I am Douglas Jackson......Early exposure to art appreciation started as a young working adult. My first experience in creating art was in 1973 when I finished my first oil on canvas. In the following years I worked in the construction industry and would undertake the occasional painting. After settling in Tucson in 2001, I studied Computer Generated Graphic Arts and created several pieces. These works along with my early development paintings can be viewed at Artsintheabstract.blogspot.com.
A major shift in enthusiasm to create abstract art occurred in early 2015 when I met Albert Stewart. Drawing from his 40 plus years experience in Art History education, writing and curating, Dr. Stewart provided references to important artists and initiated relevant discussions on the nature and source of abstract expression as well as critiques of my early paintings.
Self directed study of abstract painters and Albert Stewarts influences were necessary in defining my artistic vision. The net result is 'Utterances in the Abstract' as they became known to me, now total over 150 works from beginning to current. Today I continue to experiment with style and technique while striving to reveal intimate and evocative images(imagery) that are personal, new and original.
